in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

The Secretary must annually adjust specified dollar amounts beginning July 1, 2025, using a multifamily-housing construction price index or an alternative indicator if that index is unavailable. The Secretary must publish the adjustments, rounded down to the next dollar, in the Federal Register.

(a) Method of indexing. The dollar amounts in sections 1713(c)(3)(A), 1715e(b)(2)(A), 1715k(d)(3)(B)(iii)(I), 1715l(d)(3)(ii)(I), 1715l(d)(4)(ii)(I), 1715v(c)(2)(A), and 1715y(e)(3)(A) are collectively called the “Dollar Amounts.” The Secretary must adjust them every year beginning July 1, 2025. The Secretary must calculate each adjustment using the percentage change from March of the previous year to March of the adjustment year in the Price Deflator Index of Multifamily Residential Units Under Construction released by the Bureau of the Census. If that index is unavailable or unpublished, the Secretary may use another indicator after publishing information about it in the Federal Register for public comment.

(b) Publication. (1) The Secretary must publish every adjustment to the Dollar Amounts in the Federal Register. (2) Each adjusted dollar amount must be rounded down to the next lower dollar.
