16 U.S.C. § 273 — Establishment

(a) Description of area — Subject to valid existing rights, the land, water, and related interests inside the boundary shown on the "Boundary Map, Proposed Capitol Reef National Park, Utah," numbered 158-91,002 and dated January 1971, become Capitol Reef National Park. That map is kept on file and open for public inspection at the National Park Service offices, Department of the Interior. (b) Abolition of Capitol Reef National Monument; funds of monument available for park; administration of lands excluded from monument — This law abolishes the earlier Capitol Reef National Monument. Any money available for the monument can now be used for the park instead. Any federal land, water, or related interests that used to be part of the monument, but are not included in the new park, continue to be managed by the Secretary of the Interior, following the normal laws that apply to public lands.
