16 U.S.C. § 430ff — Horseshoe Bend National Military Park; establishment

This section sets up how Horseshoe Bend National Military Park gets created. The land involved is known as the Horseshoe Bend Battle Ground, on the Tallapoosa River in Alabama. Before the park can exist, at least 500 acres of this non-federal land — along with any buildings or other improvements on it — must be acquired and handed over to the United States. That transfer must be free and clear of any encumbrances, meaning no debts, liens, or other claims attached to the land. It must also happen without costing the federal government any money. Once those conditions are met, the land is dedicated as a unit of the National Park System, under the name Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.
