submitted date unrecorded by Congress to r/title-30-MINERAL-LANDS-AND-MINING · 193 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

This law caps mining claims on veins containing gold, silver, and other minerals at 1,500 feet in length. Claims can't extend more than 300 feet, or less than 25 feet, from the vein's middle on each side. A claim's end lines must be parallel.

This law sets the maximum size of mining claims on veins or lodes of quartz or other rock bearing gold, silver, cinnabar, lead, tin, copper, or other valuable deposits. Claims located before May 10, 1872, are governed as to length along the vein or lode by the customs, regulations, and laws in force when they were located. A claim located after May 10, 1872, whether located by one or more persons, may equal but may not exceed 1,500 feet in length along the vein or lode. No location of a mining claim can be made until the vein or lode has actually been discovered within the claim's limits. No claim can extend more than 300 feet on each side of the middle of the vein at the surface, and no mining regulation can limit a claim to less than 25 feet on each side of the middle of the vein at the surface, except where adverse rights existing on May 10, 1872, make that limitation necessary. The end lines of each claim must be parallel to each other.

A mining claim located after the 10th day of May 1872, whether located by one or more persons, may equal, but shall not exceed, one thousand five hundred feet in length along the vein or lode; but no location of a mining claim shall be made until the discovery of the vein or lode within the limits of the claim located. No claim shall extend more than three hundred feet on each side of the middle of the vein at the surface, nor shall any claim be limited by any mining regulation to less than twenty-five feet on each side of the middle of the vein at the surface, except where adverse rights existing on the 10th day of May 1872 render such limitation necessary. The end lines of each claim shall be parallel to each other.
