submitted 54 years ago by Pub. L. 92-434 to r/title-33-NAVIGATION-AND-NAVIGABLE-WATERS · 95 words · no verdicts yet
No international bridge under section 535 can be built without the President's approval. Before approving, the President must get advice from relevant federal officials. For US-Mexico bridges, that includes the US-Mexico Boundary and Water Commission.
No bridge may be constructed, maintained, and operated as section 535 of this title allows, unless the President has approved it.
In deciding whether to give that approval, the President must get advice and recommendations from (1) the U.S. section of the International Boundary and Water Commission, United States and Mexico, when the bridge connects the U.S. and Mexico, and (2) the heads of whichever federal departments and agencies the President thinks appropriate, to help determine whether the bridge is needed.
No bridge may be constructed, maintained, and operated as provided in section 535 of this title unless the President has given his approval thereto. In the course of determining whether to grant such approval, the President shall secure the advice and recommendations of (1) the United States section of the International Boundary and Water Commission, United States and Mexico, in the case of a bridge connecting the United States and Mexico, and (2) the heads of such departments and agencies of the Federal Government as he deems appropriate to determine the necessity for such bridge.
