34 U.S.C. § 60903 — Full reinvestigation

(a) In general. If the case file review required under section 60901 of this title concludes that a full reinvestigation would produce probative investigative leads, the agency must actually conduct that full reinvestigation of the cold case murder. (b) Reinvestigation. The full reinvestigation must analyze all the evidence about the cold case murder, with the goal of developing probative investigative leads or identifying a likely perpetrator. (c) Reviewer. The person conducting the reinvestigation cannot be someone who already investigated that same murder before. (d) Prohibition on multiple concurrent reviews. Only one full reinvestigation can be happening at a time for the same cold case murder victim.
