35 U.S.C. § 9 — Certified copies of records

The Director can give out certified copies of patent papers. This includes the specifications and drawings for issued patents. It also covers other records open to the public or to the person asking for them.
The Director may furnish certified copies of specifications and drawings of patents issued by the Patent and Trademark Office, and of other records available either to the public or to the person applying therefor.
