38 U.S.C. § 4114 — Credentialing and licensure of veterans: demonstration project

(a) The Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training must conduct a credentialing demonstration project to help Armed Forces members move from active service to civilian jobs. (b)(1) In consultation with the Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training, the Assistant Secretary must select no more than five military occupational specialties requiring skills needed in a high-growth or high-worker-demand civilian industry. (2) The Assistant Secretary must contract with an entity representing a coalition of State governors to consult Federal, State, and industry officials and identify credential, certification, and license requirements requiring those skills. (3) The Assistant Secretary must analyze which requirements can be met by the military skills, training, or experience. (c) The Assistant Secretary must cooperate with officials to reduce or remove barriers to giving a veteran a credential, certification, or license when the veteran acquired the relevant skill, training, or experience while serving in a military occupational specialty selected under subsection (b)(1), and that skill, training, or experience satisfies Federal and State requirements. (d) The project lasts two years beginning on enactment of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011.
