A qualified individual under section 1002 is entitled to a monthly benefit for months spent outside the United States after September 2000, subject to this subchapter.
Subject to this subchapter, every individual who is a “qualified individual*” under section 1002 is entitled to a monthly benefit paid by the Commissioner of Social Security for each month after September 2000—or an earlier month if the Commissioner decides it is administratively feasible—in which the individual lives outside the United States*. This section does not define “qualified individual.”
Every individual who is a qualified individual* under section 1002 of this title shall, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of this subchapter, be entitled to a monthly benefit paid by the Commissioner of Social Security for each month after September 2000 (or such earlier month, if the Commissioner determines is administratively feasible) the individual resides outside the United States*.
