42 U.S.C. § 12581a — Educational awards only program

(a) In general. The Corporation can give operational support, through fixed-amount grants under section 12581(l), to national service programs. This applies to programs that get approved national service positions but do not get regular funding under section 12571(a). (b) Limit on Corporation grant funds. This support cannot be more than $800 for each person enrolled in an approved position. The cap rises to $1,000 per person if at least 50 percent of the program's participants are disadvantaged youth. (c) Inapplicable provisions. Programs funded this way do not have to follow three rules that normally apply: (1) the limit on administrative costs in section 12571(d); (2) the matching funds requirement in section 12571(e); and (3) the living allowance and other benefits required by sections 12583(e) and 12594 — except that individualized support services for participants with disabilities, under section 12594(f), still apply.
