42 U.S.C. § 13452 — Natural gas and electric heating and cooling technologies

(a) Program direction. The Secretary had to run a 5-year program, following sections 13541 and 13542, on energy-efficient natural gas and electric heating and cooling technology for homes and commercial buildings. The natural gas part had to cover thermally activated heat pumps (including absorption heat pumps and engine-driven heat pumps) and other advanced natural gas technology, including fuel cells for homes and businesses. The electric part had to focus on advanced heat pumps, thermal storage, and advanced electric HVAC and refrigeration systems that use chlorofluorocarbon replacements. (b) Proposals. Within 180 days after October 24, 1992, the Secretary had to ask for proposals to carry out this section.
