42 U.S.C. § 15082 — Grant authority

(a) In general. The Secretary awards grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements to public or private nonprofit groups for nationally significant projects under section 15081(2). (b) Federal interagency initiatives. (1) In general. (A) Authority. The Secretary can (i) team up with other federal agencies to jointly run section 15081(2) activities or related shared-interest work, and (ii) send those agencies funds appropriated under this part, or receive and use funds from them, for that purpose. (B) Relation to program purposes. Any transferred or received funds must follow the laws that originally authorized them, and can only go to recipients eligible under those laws. (C) Procedures and criteria. If the Secretary sets up such a joint agreement: (i) the agreement must say whose procedures will award and manage the grants; (ii) the agencies may create one set of criteria and require one joint application; and (iii) unless the agencies set joint eligibility rules, an applicant must meet each program's own eligibility rules. (2) Limitation. This subsection cannot override any funding limit set by another law.
