42 U.S.C. § 7548 — Study of particulate emissions from motor vehicles

(a) Study and analysis. (1) The Administrator must study the health and welfare effects of particulate emissions from motor vehicles and motor vehicle engines covered by section 7521. The study must describe and measure these emissions and analyze how they relate to different fuels and fuel additives. (2) The study must also analyze particle emissions from mobile sources that are not related to engine exhaust — including, but not limited to, tire debris and asbestos from brake linings. (b) Report to Congress. The Administrator had to report the study's findings and results to Congress no later than two years after August 7, 1977. The report also had to recommend standards or methods for regulating the particle emissions described in subsection (a)(2).
