5 U.S.C. § 311 — Definitions
submitted 7 years ago by Pub. L. 115-435 to r/title-5-GOVERNMENT-ORGANIZATION-AND-EMPLOYEES · 187 words · no verdicts yet
This law defines six terms used in this subchapter about federal program evaluation: "agency," "Director," "evaluation," "evidence," "State," and terms about statistical activities. It points to other statutes - like Title 31 and Title 44 - for some of the definitions. These meanings apply wherever this subchapter uses those words.
In this subchapter:
The term “Director” means the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
The term “evaluation” means an assessment using systematic data collection and analysis of one or more programs, policies, and organizations intended to assess their effectiveness and efficiency.
The term “State” means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, each territory or possession of the United States, and each federally recognized governing body of any Indian Tribe, band, nation, pueblo, or other organized group or community which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians.
The terms “statistical activities”, “statistical agency or unit”, and “statistical purpose” have the meanings given those terms in section 3561 of title 44.
