5 U.S.C. § 314 — Statistical expertise

(a) In General. Each agency head must designate the head of any statistical agency or unit within the agency — or, if the agency doesn't have one, any senior agency official with the right expertise — as a statistical official, to advise on statistical policy, techniques, and procedures. Other agency officials doing statistical work may consult that statistical official as needed. (b) Membership on Interagency Council on Statistical Policy. Each statistical official named under subsection (a) serves as a member of the Interagency Council on Statistical Policy, established under title 44, section 3504(e)(8).
