submitted 46 years ago by Pub. L. 96-468 to r/title-7-AGRICULTURE · 167 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

This section authorizes the Secretary to make cooperative agreements with State agencies. It also authorizes coordination with State laws and regulations.

To avoid duplicating functions, facilities, and personnel, and to achieve closer coordination and greater effectiveness and economy in administering this chapter and State laws and regulations, the Secretary may enter into cooperative agreements with State departments of agriculture and other State agencies responsible for administering and enforcing those State laws and regulations. The Secretary may provide that a State agency with adequate facilities, personnel, and procedures, as determined by the Secretary, may assist the Secretary in administering and enforcing this chapter and regulations “hereunder” (this section does not define “hereunder”). The Secretary may also coordinate administration of this chapter and regulations with those State laws and regulations whenever feasible. However, nothing here affects the Secretary’s jurisdiction under any other Federal law, any authority to cooperate with State agencies or other agencies or persons under existing law, or any restrictions on that cooperation.
