7 U.S.C. § 8309 — Veterinary accreditation program

(a) In general. The Secretary may set up a veterinary accreditation program consistent with this chapter, including rules of conduct that accredited veterinarians must follow. (b) Consultation. Before setting up the program, the Secretary must consult with state animal health officials and veterinary professionals. (c) Suspension or revocation of accreditation. (1) After giving notice and a chance for a hearing on the record, the Secretary may suspend or revoke the accreditation of any veterinarian who violates this chapter. (2) That suspension or revocation order counts as a final order that can be reviewed in court under chapter 158 of title 28. (3) The Secretary may summarily suspend (suspend right away, without a hearing first) a veterinarian's accreditation if the Secretary has reason to believe the veterinarian knowingly violated this chapter — but the Secretary must then give the veterinarian notice and a prompt hearing after the suspension. (d) Application of penalty provisions. The criminal and civil penalties described in section 8313 don't apply to a violation of this section unless that violation also breaks some other part of this chapter.
