1 U.S.C. § 212 — Additional distribution at each new Congress

This section is a single, undivided rule. At the beginning of the first session of each new Congress, the Superintendent of Documents must supply one copy each of three things to any Senator or Representative who applies in writing: the Code of Laws of the United States, the Code of Laws relating to the District of Columbia, and the latest supplement to each of those codes. Two conditions apply. First, the Senator or Representative must certify in their written application that the volume or volumes they're applying for are intended for their personal use exclusively. Second, no Senator or Representative may receive, under this section, more than one copy of each of these volumes during their term of service — even if they apply more than once.
