The Secretary must consult State and local agencies about available assistance and consider their views. The Secretary must also consult interested parties who may help develop the best plan of action.
The Secretary* must confer with appropriate State* or local government agencies to confirm available assistance for this title’s purposes and must consider those agencies’ views when deciding matters under this subchapter. The Secretary must also confer with interested parties the Secretary believes could help develop a plan of action that best serves this subchapter’s purposes.
The Secretary* shall confer with any appropriate State* or local government agency to confirm any State or local assistance that is available to achieve the purposes of this title 1 and shall give consideration to the views of any such agency when making determinations under this subchapter. The Secretary shall also confer with appropriate interested parties that the Secretary believes could assist in the development of a plan of action that best achieves the purposes of this subchapter.
