Among warrant-officer grades, a higher numerical designation is senior to a lower one. The section also sets precedence by commission date and directs the Secretary to regulate ties.
(a) Among warrant officer grades, warrant officers of a higher numerical designation are senior to warrant officer grades of a lower numerical designation.
(b) Warrant officers must take precedence in the grade to which appointed under the dates of their commissions as commissioned officers in the Coast Guard in that grade. Precedence among warrant officers of the same grade who have the same date of commission is determined by regulations prescribed by the Secretary*.
