This section addresses enlistments; term, grade. It states the rules, duties, permissions, limits, and exceptions described in the section.
Under regulations prescribed by the Secretary*, the Commandant* may enlist persons for the duration of their minority or a period of at least two years but not more than six years.
The Secretary shall prescribe the grades or ratings for persons enlisting in the Regular Coast Guard.
