14 U.S.C. § 2776 — Payments at time of discharge for good of service

This section permits the Commandant to pay an enlisted member discharged for dishonorable conduct, bad conduct, or the good of the service up to $25. The payment is discretionary and is limited to cases where the person would otherwise lack funds for immediate needs.
An enlisted member discharged by dishonorable discharge, bad-conduct discharge, or another discharge for the good of the service may be paid up to $25 at discharge. The Commandant* sets the amount in the Commandant’s discretion. Payment is allowed only when the discharged person would otherwise lack money for immediate needs.
Enlisted members discharged by dishonorable discharge, bad-conduct discharge, or any other discharge for the good of the service, may, upon discharge, be paid a sum not to exceed $25. The sum paid shall be fixed by and in the discretion of the Commandant*, and shall be paid only in cases where the individual so discharged would otherwise be without funds to meet his immediate needs.
