14 U.S.C. § 338 — Redistricting notification requirement

The Coast Guard Commandant must tell two congressional committees before making big changes to Coast Guard Districts. This notice must come at least 180 days early. It applies to reducing, relocating, or resizing districts, or moving over 10% of a district's staff or gear.
The Commandant* of the Coast Guard must give advance notice to two congressional committees — the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation — before doing either of these things: (1) carrying out a plan to reduce the number of Coast Guard Districts, move one, or change the geographic area a district covers; or (2) permanently moving more than 10 percent of the personnel or equipment out of a district office where they are normally based. That notice must go out at least 180 days before the change happens.
The Commandant* shall notify the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate at least 180 days before—
implementing any plan to reduce the number of, change the location of, or change the geographic area covered by any existing Coast Guard Districts; or
permanently transferring more than 10 percent of the personnel or equipment from a district office where such personnel or equipment is based.
