15 U.S.C. § 2057e — Banning of crib bumpers

Within 180 days after May 16, 2022, crib bumpers, regardless of their manufacture date, become banned hazardous products under section 2057. The section defines what is and is not a crib bumper.
(a) In general. No later than 180 days after May 16, 2022, crib bumpers become banned hazardous products under section 2057 of this title, regardless of when they were made.
(b) “Crib bumper” defined. (1) The term means material intended to cover a crib’s sides to prevent injury from impacts against the sides or to prevent partial or complete access to openings in the sides, so that a crib occupant cannot get any body part caught in an opening. (2) It includes padded crib bumpers, supported and unsupported vinyl bumper guards, and vertical crib-slat covers. (3) It does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.
Not later than 180 days after May 16, 2022, crib bumpers, regardless of the date of manufacture, shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 2057 of this title.
In this section, the term “crib bumper”—
means any material that is intended to cover the sides of a crib to prevent injury to any crib occupant from impacts against the side of a crib or to prevent partial or complete access to any openings in the sides of a crib to prevent a crib occupant from getting any part of the body entrapped in any opening;
includes a padded crib bumper, a supported and unsupported vinyl bumper guard, and vertical crib slat covers; and
does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.
