15 U.S.C. § 6304 — Safety standards

A person may not arrange, promote, organize, produce, or fight in a professional boxing match^* unless each of these requirements is met, or a boxing commission’s regulations provide an equivalent alternative protecting boxers’ health and safety: (1) a physician^* examines each boxer^* and certifies whether the boxer is physically fit to compete safely, and copies go to the boxing commission^*; (2) unless a boxing commission regulation issued after October 9, 1996 expressly provides otherwise, an ambulance or medical personnel with suitable resuscitation equipment is continuously present; (3) a physician is continuously present at ringside; and (4) each boxer has health insurance covering medical treatment for injuries from the match.
