15 U.S.C. § 69bMisbranded fur products

submitted 75 years ago by ch. 298 to r/title-15-COMMERCE-AND-TRADE · 273 words · no verdicts yet

in plain englishAI-generated · not legal advice

A fur product is misbranded if its label is false or deceptive, or if it's missing required label information: the animal's name, whether it's used or dyed fur, whether it's made of paws or waste fur, who made it, and the country of origin. It's also misbranded if the label uses an animal name other than the approved one.

This section, similar in structure to the wool-misbranding section, sets three rules for when a fur product counts as misbranded. (1) A fur product is misbranded if it is falsely or deceptively labeled or identified, or if its label misrepresents or deceives about the product in any way, directly or by implication. (2) It's misbranded if it lacks a plainly legible label showing: (A) the animal name or names, as listed in the Fur Products Name Guide, plus any qualifying statement required under section 69e(c); (B) whether the product contains or is made of used fur; (C) whether the fur is bleached, dyed, or otherwise artificially colored; (D) whether the product is made in whole or substantial part of paws, tails, bellies, or waste fur; (E) the name — or Commission-issued identification — of one or more of the people who manufacture, introduce, sell, advertise, or transport the product in commerce; and (F) the country of origin of any imported fur used in the product. (3) It's also misbranded if the required label under (2)(A) names an animal other than the name that section actually calls for.
