15 U.S.C. § 77kk — Representations by Corporation as acting for Department of State or United States forbidden; interference with foreign negotiations forbidden

This section applies to the Corporation created elsewhere in this subchapter, any committee of it, and anyone acting for it, representing it, or claiming to represent it. Despite anything else in this subchapter, and with nothing in this subchapter read as permitting or authorizing it, none of them may: (a) claim, assert, or pretend to be acting for or representing the Department of State or the United States government; (b) make any statement to a foreign government, or to officials of it or of any of its political subdivisions, saying the Corporation, any committee of it, or anyone connected with it was speaking or acting for the Department of State or the United States government; or (c) do anything, directly or indirectly, that would interfere with, obstruct, or hinder — or that might be calculated to obstruct, hinder, or interfere with — the policy or policies of the Department of State or the United States government, or any pending or planned diplomatic negotiations, arrangements, business, or exchanges between the United States government (or the State Department) and any foreign government or its political subdivisions.
