16 U.S.C. § 160i — Applicability to treaties, orders, or agreements

Nothing in this subchapter changes the provisions of any treaty already in force, or that comes into force later, between the United States and Great Britain relating to Canada, or between the United States and Canada. It also does not change any order or agreement made or entered into under such a treaty, as long as that order or agreement would, by its own terms, apply to the land and water the Secretary may acquire under this subchapter. The section specifically names one example, without limiting the general rule to just this example: the Convention Between the United States and Canada on Emergency Regulation of Level of Rainy Lake and of Other Boundary Waters in the Rainy Lake Watershed, signed September 15, 1938. Any order issued under that Convention also stays in effect. In short, this park law does not override these international agreements — it stays subordinate to them.
