16 U.S.C. § 271b — Grazing privileges; right of occupancy or use for fixed term of years; renewal

If federal land that is now part of Canyonlands National Park was already being legally used for livestock grazing when this law, or a later amendment to it, was approved, the person using it keeps that right. This protection applies only if the grazing was authorized by a lease, permit, or license for a fixed number of years, issued by some federal department, establishment, or agency. The Secretary of the Interior must let the person holding that grazing privilege keep grazing for the rest of the original lease, permit, or license term. After that term ends, the holder gets to renew the grazing privilege one more time. After that single renewal, the right to graze on that land ends.
