16 U.S.C. § 410aaa–28 — Visitor center

(a) In general The Secretary may acquire up to 5 acres of land — plus any buildings and other interests on it — outside the park's boundaries, in the unincorporated village of Joshua Tree, to run a visitor center. (b) Boundary The Secretary must change the park's boundary to include this new land as a separate, non-touching piece of the park. (c) Administration Land and buildings acquired this way: (1) may include the property, owned as of March 12, 2019, by the Joshua Tree National Park Association, commonly known as the "Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center"; (2) must be run by the Secretary as part of the park; and (3) may only be acquired with the owner's consent — by donation, by purchase using donated or government funds, or by exchange.
