16 U.S.C. § 410aaa–58 — Mojave National Preserve Advisory Commission

(a) Establishment The Secretary must set up an Advisory Commission with no more than 15 members. Its job is to advise the Secretary on building and carrying out a new or updated management plan for the Mojave National Preserve. (b) Membership (1) The Commission must include an elected official from each county the preserve is partly located in, a representative of private property owners inside or right next to the preserve, and other members who work in grazing and range management, mineral exploration and development, or who have expertise in fields like geology, biology, ecology, law enforcement, and protecting National Park resources. (2) The Secretary must fill any open seats in a way that keeps the full range of required viewpoints represented. (c) Applicability of chapter 10 of title 5 The Commission's procedures and activities follow Title 5, Chapter 10 (the federal law governing advisory committees). (d) Termination The Commission stops existing ten years after it is created.
