This section defines who counts as a "native American Samoan." It means a U.S. citizen or national descended from someone living in the Samoan Islands on April 18, 1900. Swains Island counts as part of the Samoan Islands for this purpose.
For this subchapter, a "native American Samoan" is a person who is a citizen or national of the United States and who is a lineal descendant of an inhabitant of the Samoan Islands on April 18, 1900. For this subchapter, Swains Island is considered part of the Samoan Islands.
For purposes of this subchapter the term “native American Samoan” means a person who is a citizen or national of the United States and who is a lineal descendant of an inhabitant of the Samoan Islands on April 18, 1900. For purposes of this subchapter, Swains Island shall be considered part of the Samoan Islands.
