The Secretary of the Interior may acquire land and water inside the park's boundaries by donation, purchase, or exchange. Land within the Forked Lightning Ranch needs the owner's consent before the Secretary can acquire it. The only exception is land being used, or about to be used, against the park's purpose.
The Secretary may acquire lands, waters, and interests in them within the park's boundaries by donation, by purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or by exchange. But there is a limit: the Secretary may not acquire land within the Forked Lightning Ranch from whoever owned it as of May 1, 1990, without that owner's consent, unless the Secretary determines the land is being used, or is imminently threatened with being used, for a purpose incompatible with this Act's purposes.
The Secretary is authorized to acquire lands, waters, and interests therein within the boundaries of the park by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange: Provided, however, That the Secretary may not acquire lands within the Forked Lightning Ranch as depicted on the map from the owner of record of such lands as of May 1, 1990, without the consent of such owner unless the Secretary determines that the lands are being used, or that there is an imminent threat that the lands will be used, for any purpose that is incompatible with the purposes of this Act.
