16 U.S.C. § 442 — George Washington Birthplace National Monument

This section creates the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. The land the United States owns at Wakefield, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, along with every structure on it, becomes this national monument. It's established and set aside to preserve the historical events connected to it, for the public's benefit and enjoyment. Since January 23, 1930, the National Park Service has administered the monument, under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior. That administration follows the Act of August 25, 1916 (found at 39 Stat. 535), as that law has been amended — the same general law that governs the National Park Service's other sites.
