Heads of federal departments can hand over control of government land inside the site's boundary. No money changes hands in the transfer. This happens only when the land is no longer needed by that department's agency.
This section lets the heads of executive departments transfer administrative jurisdiction over federally owned lands and other property to the Secretary of the Interior. No exchange of funds happens in the transfer. The land must be within the revised boundary of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. It must also be property that has become excess, meaning it is no longer needed for the transferring agency's own purposes. Once transferred, the land becomes part of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
The heads of executive departments may transfer to the Secretary of the Interior, without exchange of funds, administrative jurisdiction over such federally owned lands and other property under their administrative jurisdictions within the revised boundary as may become excess to the needs of their respective agencies, for inclusion in the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
