16 U.S.C. § 450ll–1 — Establishment and supervision

The real property acquired under section 450ll of this title becomes the Booker T. Washington National Monument. It is a public national memorial to Booker T. Washington, whom the statute describes as a "noted Negro educator and apostle of good will." The Secretary of the Interior has supervision, management, and control of the national monument. The Secretary must maintain and preserve it in a suitable and enduring manner that, in the Secretary's judgment, provides for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the United States.
