16 U.S.C. § 459a — Acceptance of donations; acquisition of property by purchase and condemnation

This section is a single provision with no lettered subsections. The Secretary of the Interior may accept donations of land, interests in land, buildings, structures, and other property inside the boundaries of the national seashore recreational area, once those boundaries are set. The Secretary may also accept donations of money to purchase and maintain that property. Any land title accepted must satisfy the Secretary as to its validity. The Secretary may also use donated funds to acquire land on the government's behalf within the seashore area. The Secretary can do this by purchase, when the price is reasonable, or otherwise by condemnation under section 3113 of title 40. This applies to whatever tracts of land are needed to complete the seashore area.
