Since August 6, 1956, land-buying money for national parks can also go toward Cape Hatteras. This lets the Interior Department buy non-federal land there. Congress is allowed to appropriate funds for these purchases.
This section is a single, undivided provision.
Starting August 6, 1956, any funds Congress appropriates to the Department of the Interior for buying non-federal land within National Park System areas also become available for buying non-federal land inside the Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area.
The section also authorizes appropriating funds specifically to acquire that land.
Any funds appropriated to the Department of the Interior for the acquisition of non-Federal lands within areas of the National Park System shall after August 6, 1956, be available for the acquisition of non-Federal lands within the Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area, and the appropriation of funds for the acquisition of such lands is authorized.
