16 U.S.C. § 460lll–14 — Forest highways

(a) In general - For purposes of section 204 of title 23, the road called "The Trace" and every other paved road in the Recreation Area - including roads built to lower "secondary" standards - count as a "forest highway." (b) State responsibility - (1) States must maintain these forest highways within the Recreation Area. (2) As much as the law allows, the Secretary of Transportation must reimburse states, from highway construction and maintenance funds, for all or part of what it costs to maintain these forest highways.
