16 U.S.C. § 460nnn–52 — Advisory role in management activities

(a) Management recommendations. The advisory council must use sound science, existing management plans, and other tools to come up with recommendations for the Secretary. These cover (1) new and unique ways to manage the land in the Cooperative Management and Protection Area, and (2) cooperative programs and incentives for managing the whole landscape in a way that meets human needs while keeping up or improving the area's ecological and economic health. (b) Preparation of management plan. The Secretary must consult with the advisory council while preparing and carrying out the management plan. (c) Submission of recommendations. The council can't send the Secretary any recommendation unless at least 9 of its 12 members agree to it.
