16 U.S.C. § 487 — Cutting timber on land added to Siskiyou National Forest

The Secretary of Agriculture may, at the Secretary's discretion, sell the merchantable (usable) timber on the land that was added to the Siskiyou National Forest under section 1 of the relevant act. These sales must follow the same regulations that govern selling public timber elsewhere in the national forests. All proceeds from selling this timber must be deposited in the United States Treasury, in a special fund called "The Oregon and California land-grant fund" — the fund referred to in section 10 of the Act of Congress approved June 9, 1916 (chapter 137, 39 Stat. 222). The proceeds must be disposed of the way that 1916 Act directs, because the added land is part of the area that revested in the United States under that Act.
