16 U.S.C. § 666e — Administration of acquired lands

Land acquired under this section or section 666d becomes part of an existing refuge or reservation when it is inside or next to one. Other acquired land may be managed for migratory waterfowl or other listed wildlife purposes under the cited 1946 law and later supplemental laws.
Any land the Secretary of the Interior acquires under this section or section 666d that is inside or next to an existing wildlife refuge or reservation immediately becomes part of that refuge or reservation. It must be managed under the laws and regulations that apply to that refuge or reservation. If the land is not inside or next to one, it may be managed as a migratory-waterfowl management area, refuge, reservation, or breeding ground under the Act of August 14, 1946 (60 Stat. 1080), and laws that supplement that Act.
Any lands acquired by the Secretary of the Interior under the terms of this section and section 666d of this title, if located within or adjacent to an existing wildlife refuge or reservation, immediately shall become a part of such refuge or reservation and shall be administered under the laws and regulations applicable thereto, and, if not so located, may be administered as a migratory-waterfowl management area, refuge, reservation, or breeding ground in accordance with the provisions of the Act of August 14, 1946 (60 Stat. 1080), and Acts supplementary thereto.
