The Administrator prepares Bonneville electricity rate schedules, but they take effect only after the Secretary of Energy approves them. The schedules also apply to electricity disposed of to Federal agencies and may use uniform rates to support integrated transmission and fair distribution.
The Administrator must prepare schedules of rates and charges for electricity produced at the Bonneville project and sold under this chapter. The schedules take effect only after the Secretary of Energy confirms and approves them. The same rates and charges apply when electricity is disposed of to Federal agencies. With the Secretary’s confirmation and approval, the Administrator may modify the schedules from time to time. The schedules must be set to encourage the widest possible variety of uses of electricity. They may provide one uniform rate or uniform rates throughout specified transmission areas, so that an integrated transmission system benefits users and Bonneville electricity is distributed fairly.
Schedules of rates and charges for electric energy produced at the Bonneville project and sold to purchasers as in this chapter provided shall be prepared by the administrator and become effective upon confirmation and approval thereof by the Secretary of Energy; and such rates and charges shall also be applicable to dispositions of electric energy to Federal agencies. Subject to confirmation and approval by the Secretary of Energy, such rate schedules may be modified from time to time by the administrator, and shall be fixed and established with a view to encouraging the widest possible diversified use of electric energy. The said rate schedules may provide for uniform rates or rates uniform throughout prescribed transmission areas in order to extend the benefits of an integrated transmission system and encourage the equitable distribution of the electric energy developed at the Bonneville project.
