16 U.S.C. § 90e–2Map and legal description, filing with Congressional committees; correction of errors; applicability of Wilderness Act

The Agriculture Secretary had to file maps of the Pasayten and Glacier Peak Wildernesses with Congress. Only clerical or typographical errors in those maps could later be corrected. After filing, both wilderness areas are managed under the Wilderness Act's normal rules.

(a) As soon as practical after October 2, 1968, the Secretary of Agriculture had to file a map and legal description of the Pasayten Wilderness and the modified Glacier Peak Wilderness with the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Natural Resources. These descriptions count as if they were written into this subchapter, though clerical or typographical errors in the maps and descriptions can be corrected later. (b) Once those maps and descriptions are filed, the Secretary of Agriculture administers the Pasayten Wilderness and the Glacier Peak Wilderness additions under the Wilderness Act, and they become subject to the Wilderness Act's rules for designated wilderness areas — except that any reference in those rules to the Wilderness Act's effective date instead means this subchapter's effective date.
