18 U.S.C. § 1421 — Accounts of court officers

A court clerk, assistant clerk, or other person legally required to account for or pay over money connected with citizenship, naturalization, or alien registration proceedings commits an offense by willfully failing to do so after the payment is due and demanded. The punishment may be a fine, imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
Anyone who has that legal duty and willfully fails to make a true account or pay the United States the balance due within 30 days after the payment becomes due and is demanded may be fined under this title, imprisoned for up to five years, or both.
Whoever, being a clerk or assistant clerk of a court, or other person charged by law with a duty to render true accounts of moneys received in any proceeding relating to citizenship, naturalization, or registration of aliens or to pay over any balance of such moneys due to the United States, willfully neglects to do so within thirty days after said payment shall become due and demand therefor has been made, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.
