18 U.S.C. § 1506 — Theft or alteration of record or process; false bail

A person who feloniously steals, removes, changes, falsifies, or otherwise avoids a United States court record or process in a way that defeats a judgment may be punished. The same applies to using another person's name without that person's agreement for a recognizance, bail, or judgment.
A person who feloniously steals, takes away, alters, falsifies, or otherwise avoids any record, writ, process, or other proceeding in a United States court, and thereby causes a judgment to be reversed, made void, or not take effect, may be punished. A person who acknowledges, or gets someone to acknowledge, in such a court any recognizance, bail, or judgment in the name of another person who did not participate in or consent to it may also be punished. The person may be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than five years, or both. This section does not define "feloniously," "avoids," "recognizance," or "privy."
Whoever feloniously steals, takes away, alters, falsifies, or otherwise avoids any record, writ, process, or other proceeding, in any court of the United States*, whereby any judgment is reversed, made void, or does not take effect; or
Whoever acknowledges, or procures to be acknowledged in any such court, any recognizance, bail, or judgment, in the name of any other person not privy or consenting to the same—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.
