18 U.S.C. § 1710 — Theft of newspapers

A Postal Service officer or employee who steals newspapers from a post office or their custodian commits an offense. The punishment may be a fine, up to one year in prison, or both.
A Postal Service* officer or employee who takes or steals a newspaper or package of newspapers from a post office or from someone who has custody of it may be fined under this title, imprisoned for up to one year, or both.
Whoever, being a Postal Service* officer or employee, takes or steals any newspaper or package of newspapers from any post office or from any person having custody thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
