18 U.S.C. § 1923 — Fraudulent receipt of payments of missing persons

A person who obtains or receives money, a check, or an allotment without being entitled to it and with intent to defraud may be fined, imprisoned for up to one year, or both. The payments must be under one of the two listed federal provisions.
Whoever obtains or receives any money, check, or allotment under (1) subchapter VII of chapter 55 of title 5, or (2) chapter 10 of title 37, without being entitled to it and with intent to defraud, may be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
Whoever obtains or receives any money, check, or allotment under—
subchapter VII of chapter 55 of title 5; or
chapter 10 of title 37;
without being entitled thereto, with intent to defraud, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
