18 U.S.C. § 489 — Making or possessing likeness of coins

It's a federal crime to make or bring in a token, disk, or device that looks like real U.S. or foreign coin money. It's also a crime to possess one meaning to sell, give away, or otherwise use it. An exception applies if the Treasury Secretary or another proper official authorizes it. Violators can be fined under this title.
This law makes it a crime, inside the United States, to make a token, disk, or device — or to bring one in from a foreign country — that looks like, in design, color, or inscription, any coin the United States or a foreign government issued as money. It's also a crime to possess such a token, disk, or device, intending to sell it, give it away, or use it in any other way.
There is an exception: this doesn't apply if the Secretary of the Treasury, or another proper officer of the United States, authorizes it.
Anyone who violates this law can be fined under the general federal fine rules.
Whoever, within the United States, makes or brings therein from any foreign country, or possesses with intent to sell, give away, or in any other manner uses the same, except under authority of the Secretary of the Treasury or other proper officer of the United States, any token, disk, or device in the likeness or similitude as to design, color, or the inscription thereon of any of the coins of the United States or of any foreign country issued as money, either under the authority of the United States or under the authority of any foreign government shall be fined under this title.
