2 U.S.C. § 5562 — Preservation of reports, statements, or documents filed with Clerk of House

The Clerk must preserve publicly inspectable reports, statements, and other documents for six years or for a longer period required by the applicable law, rule, or regulation. This applies to documents filed before, on, or after December 8, 2004.
(a) If a law, rule, or regulation requires the Clerk of the House of Representatives to make a report, statement, or other document filed with the Office of the Clerk available for public inspection, the Clerk must preserve it—(1) for 6 years from filing; or (2) for the period required by that law, rule, or regulation if it specifies one. (b) This applies to reports, statements, and documents filed before, on, or after December 8, 2004.
If the Clerk of the House of Representatives is required under any law, rule, or regulation to make available for public inspection a report, statement, or other document filed with the Office of the Clerk, the Clerk shall preserve the report, statement, or document—
for a period of 6 years from the date on which the document is filed; or
if the law, rule, or regulation so provides, the period required under such law, rule, or regulation.
Subsection (a) shall apply with respect to reports, statements, and documents filed before, on, or after December 8, 2004.
